Rudy –
I address you familiarly, as having read all of your fiction and most of the non-, you seem more like a kindred spirit than a remote eminence. I just finished the two Hollow Earth books, which had eluded me for a while, and once again I felt the urge to reach out to you, to express how much your work has meant to me for so many years. Thankyouthankyouthankyou.
Another thing has lurked in my mind for a long time, but not wanting to importune, I’ve nudged it aside again and again. Now that I’m over 80, and my time may be running short, perhaps I’m a bit less constrained by such things. Anyway – back around 1995, with a computer of my own for the first time, something came over me, and for a month or so, I was swept up in a stream of prose writing, unlike anything else I’ve done. I’ve shared it with a handful of friends, and a couple of them have urged me to try to publish it, but it’s not easy for me to either submit my writing or to try to self-publish. I reread the thing now and then, and always come away glad that it exists. It does contain a couple of hat tips to you, so I’ve thought that you might like to read it. I doubt that it has any commercial potential, but I do think it has a unique charm that would appeal to selected readers. I suspect you might be one who’d appreciate it.
If this interests you at all, I’ll be delighted to e-mail a PDF of the manuscript. It’s only 64 pages long. I thought it might turn into a novel, but the flow was broken, and I decided to let it stand as is. The original title was “Marbleized Recension: An Intimation”. A friend suggested I come up with something snazzier, so the main title would now be “Into the Gonosphere”. I put together a collage cover, and have a set of drawings to be dispersed through the text.I can send any or all of this to you. If you deigned to read it, any comment would be most welcome, with no expectation beyond a chance to thank you once more. If not, so be it.
