"Surf Tiki"

I finished my “Surf Tiki” painting today, Sunday painter that I am. I started work on this about two weeks ago, when I was reading up on Easter Island.

Hey, why not? You know those moai are bored sitting there with their backs to the sea. Get ’em out surfing! In fact, most statues would probably like to stretch a bit.
Once a famous scientist invented a serum which could bring a statue to life. He tested it on a statue of a general in the park. The general shook himself and climbed down off his horse, and drew his sidearm.
“What are you doing?” asked the scientist, recoiling.
“I’m going to shoot a bunch of pigeons,” replied the ex-statue.

Why did you name it “Surf Tiki”? Just wondering why you used green colored water instead of blue. No offense Rudyog but at first look i thought it was Tree hero and the green one is his hood. What is really that in the surf board? Anyway, you have a cool paintings.

Dave, I shouldn’t have to tell you that the ocean often has green tones in it! There’s a slightly more accurate copy of the painting here.

As for the title, it has to do with my novel Hylozoic, in which my heros are talking to some of the statues on Easter Island — who are kind of the original prototypes of tiki gods. And I thought it would be cool to see these giant creatures on surfboards.

This painting is being used as the cover image of my autobiography NESTED SCROLLS in the English PS Publishing edition this summer.
