Today’s news: The io9 site has listed Postsingular <\/a>as one of the Best SF Books of 2008<\/a>!<\/p>\n

And now for a photo story…<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The other day, I was walking by a curved glass sculpture at the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco, and I noticed this intersecting pattern of bright reflections on the ground. These are what scientists call \u201ccaustic curves,\u201d\u009d because the heat along these lines can grow burning hot.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

I stepped into the caustic focus and the gravitational field warp made me as wide as I am tall.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

A crow showed me the way to a new land.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The kingdom lay inside the gills of a shelf mushroom.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Shrunken to minute size, I followed a long, winding forest trail into the subdimensions.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Part of the way was uphill, overlooking a landscape of bokeh pastels.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

I found the subbies\u2019 great gathering place.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

And I glimpsed the Topknotted Sphere.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

I pricked up my ears to receive Her wisdom.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Topknotted Sphere\u2019s voice spoke to me as if from within my own blood.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

I learned the secret machinery of the world.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

So I can hear the music of a roofline.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n
