{"id":499,"date":"2008-03-31T07:32:52","date_gmt":"2008-03-31T15:32:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/2008\/03\/31\/flurb-5\/"},"modified":"2010-08-31T13:20:02","modified_gmt":"2010-08-31T21:20:02","slug":"flurb-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/2008\/03\/31\/flurb-5\/","title":{"rendered":"Flurb #5"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The fifth issue of my webzine <a target=\"blank\" href=\"http:\/\/flurb.rudyrucker.com\/5\/index5.html\"><strong>Flurb <\/strong><\/a>goes online today.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"blank\" href=\"http:\/\/flurb.rudyrucker.com\/5\/index5.html\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/images\/flurb5cover.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once again, <strong>FLURB <\/strong>squeezes the rubber chicken of SF to produce the golden egg of ART!<\/p>\n<p>This issue features a Beat SF story of mine in the form of letters from William Burroughs in Tangiers, excerpts of John Shirley\u2019s lost cyberpunk novel Black Glass, Terry Bisson\u2019s hilarious anti-mundane story \u201cCaptain Ordinary,\u201d\u009d a Lovecraftian novella by Lavie Tidhar, a mystic travel guide to Upstate New York by Thom Metzger, and amazing pieces by new SF writers Alex Hardison, Brendan Byrne, and Nathaniel Hellerstein.<\/p>\n<p>If you have comments on the issue, please add them to this post.  <em>Pleasant <\/em>comments are especially appreciated, as we do this for no money and only in hopes of making the world a more interesting place, groping for beauty in the dark.<\/p>\n<p>PS, First day out (March 31, 2008) we got <a target=\"blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.boingboing.net\/2008\/03\/31\/rudy-ruckers-science-1.html\">boinged <\/a>and <a target=\"blank\" href=\"http:\/\/io9.com\/374191\/new-issue-of-rudy-ruckers-flurb-hits-the-interwebs\">io9ed<\/a>, with 3,000 visitors.<\/p>\n<p>I added one last tale, a short ghost story by Richard Kadrey, on April 1.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The fifth issue of my webzine Flurb goes online today.
