It\u2019s only when I\u2019m in a special kind of mode that I manage to blog a lot.<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s offering?  A short uttake from The Big Aha, involving a tool called a \u201cgeener\u201d\u009d which sends rays into a living organism to change its wetware in real time.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/images4\/sjcmvortexhand.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Also I have some pictures.  These days I have an oversupply of pictures.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/images4\/cruzawning.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow I feel about reading minds!\u201d\u009d cried Joey, aiming the geener at himself.  \u201cI\u2019ll show you!\u201d\u009d The geener hissed, and now Joey had a long rat\u2019s tail.  Hiss again, and flydino wings sprouted from his back.  Another hiss\u2014and his hips were those of a woman\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/images4\/glotinshack.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>The security guard was almost upon Joey.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Oink<\/em>,\u201d\u009d said Joey, whirling around just in time to zap the man.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/images4\/dentaltools.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Artie the guard dropped to all fours\u2014and became a spotted Gloucestershire pig, which was a breed the Trasks had been fond of farming.  Pink with black spots. Calmly the pig rubbed his snout across the ground, maybe sniffing for acorns.  Meanwhile Skungy, frightened by the chaos, had clambered back onto my shoulder.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/images4\/feetdash.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Moving slowly, regally, as if fascinated by his own magnificence, Joey unfurled his leathery wings and made as if to flap into the sky\u2014<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Most of my writing energy is going into my novel these days, The Big Aha.
