{"id":4205,"date":"2012-08-06T09:39:19","date_gmt":"2012-08-06T17:39:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/?p=4205"},"modified":"2012-08-06T09:43:05","modified_gmt":"2012-08-06T17:43:05","slug":"gourmet-menu-at-manresa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/2012\/08\/06\/gourmet-menu-at-manresa\/","title":{"rendered":"Gourmet Menu At Manresa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Back in June, my wife and I splurged and went to the Michelin two-star restaurant <a target=\"blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.manresarestaurant.com\/kitchen\/index.html\">Manresa <\/a>in Los Gatos for a \u201cseasonal and spontaneous\u201d\u009d dinner for two that cost in the neighborhood of $400.  More expensive than I\u2019d expected, but there we were, so we went for it.  <\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t like to be one of those people that annoyingly flashes their camera in a restaurant, or even someone who\u2019s photographing his food without a flash.  So today\u2019s photos are still from our road trip out west.  <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/images4\/tufa.jpg\"><br \/>\n<em>[Tufa at Mono Lake near Lee Vining, California.]<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In any case, I did make a note of each of the fifteen (!) servings we got.  Here they are, with two minor complaints.<\/p>\n<p>1. Black olive madeline with a cube of red pepper jelly<br \/>\n2. Abalone in aspic on panna cotta<br \/>\n3. Crisped kale with goat-cheese beignet<br \/>\n4. Lightly cooked egg in shell with cream and maple syrup<br \/>\n5. Veal tartare with shaved tuna<br \/>\n6. Courgette, pistachio and nasturtium blossoms with cream<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/images4\/minerlettuce.jpg\"><br \/>\n<em>[\u201cMiners lettuce\u201d\u009d near Green River Lake in Wyoming.]<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>7. \u201cInto the garden\u201d\u009d salad<br \/>\n8. Mediterranean fish soup with lobster and saffron<br \/>\n9. Japanese sea bream (not impeccably fresh)<br \/>\n10. Slice of chicken breast and raw egg in a hot seaweed-chicken broth<br \/>\n11.  Lightly braised lamb with cucumber (some of the lamb was tough and raw)<br \/>\n12. Raspberries and ice-cream<br \/>\n13. Banana cake and frozen chocolate mousse<br \/>\n14. Pistachio parfait with cherries in wine<br \/>\n15. Tiny exquisite dishes that focused your senses.  It took three hours.  The dining space is very pleasant.
