Joan Brown show in San Jose."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Wednesday, October 26, I\u2019m giving a short talk for <a target=\"blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tedxlosgatos.com\">TEDx Los Gatos<\/a>.  At this point all the seats for the event are taken, but eventually videos will be available and I\u2019ll post a link to them here.  The idea behind TEDx events is that they are set up to resemble the <a target=\"blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ted.com\/\">official TED <\/a>talks, but any local group in the world can mount a TEDx, assuming they stick to certain guidelines.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/images3\/rucker_1971_target_color.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a preview PDF file of my slides and text for my talk, \u201c<a target=\"blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/tedxlosgatos\/Slides%20andText,%20Transreal%20in%20Los%20Gatos.pdf\">Transreal In Los Gatos<\/a>.\u201d\u009d It\u2019s a large file, so when you click the link, it\u2019ll take up to a minute before you see the images onscreen.  Note also that I\u2019m still revising the text, and in the end it\u2019ll come out different during live performance.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/images3\/sjplane.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Sylvia and I were in downtown San Jose this weekend, nice to get a taste of city without driving all the way to SF.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/images3\/sjpalmfoot.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Downtown San Jose does tend to be a little deserted.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/images3\/bijancakes.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>But they have a great patisserie called Bijan near the art museum.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/images3\/sjmuszhabo.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>The San Jose Art Museum is an interesting building, expanded out from an old stone Post Office.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/images3\/joanbrownclose.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>And they\u2019re having a <a target=\"blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kqed.org\/arts\/visualarts\/article.jsp?essid=72414\">show <\/a>of paintings by Joan Brown (1938-1990).  She hasn\u2019t had a big show around here since 1998, when there was a somewhat larger two-site show in Oakland and Berkeley.  About the best <a target=\"blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/0520214692\/tag=rusbl0f-20\">book on Joan Brown <\/a>was based on that show.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/images3\/sjmusbase.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>The SJ show is definitely worth a visit.
