{"id":219,"date":"2005-06-05T21:05:38","date_gmt":"2005-06-06T05:05:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/wordpress\/?p=219"},"modified":"2014-12-02T09:17:47","modified_gmt":"2014-12-02T17:17:47","slug":"bela-and-the-jellyfish","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/2005\/06\/05\/bela-and-the-jellyfish\/","title":{"rendered":"Bela and the Jellyfish"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/images\/bela.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Today I was working on a painting based on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/2005\/04\/28\/natarajas-in-jellyfish-lake\/\" target=\"_blank\">photo of me <\/a> in Jellyfish Lake in Micronesia, but I&#039;m thinking of it as my character Bela Kis meeting the Big Jellyfish which is G*D in otherworldly La Hampa.  I&rsquo;m using acrylics, which I&#039;m still getting the hang of, I&#039;m more in the habit of using oils.  You can&#039;t smear the colors around which is bad, but you can layer on colors pretty fast one after the other, which is good.  The picture is called &#8220;Bela and the Jellyfish.&#8221;  It&#039;s not quite done yet, but just now I photographed it.   It&#039;s annoying when you&#039;re painting that there&#039;s no Ctrl-Z to undo a goof, no PhotoShop History dialog where you can roll back to an earlier state.  Like life itself.
