The 1990 Penguin paperback edition has a great cover by<a target=\"blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.frazettaartgallery.com\/ff\/bio\/index.html\"> Frank Frazetta<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/images2\/tarzfraz.jpg\"><br \/>\n<em>[Copyright (C) Frank Frazetta]<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I enjoyed the book a lot, and now I have to get hold of the first of the many sequels, the 1913 <em>The Return of Tarzan <\/em>, to see if Tarzan manages to hook up with Jane\u2014who slips through his noble fingers in the final scene of <em>Tarzan of the Apes<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m curious about Philp Jose Farmer\u2019s Burroughs\/Burroughs pastiche, \u201cThe Jungle Rot Kid on the Nod,\u201d\u009d but I can\u2019t find it online. Maybe I\u2019ll have to buy a Farmer anthology for this one.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/images2\/tarzmad.jpg\"><br \/>\n<em>[Copyright (C) E. C. Publications, Inc.]<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I also dug out my old <em>Mad <\/em>magazine parody, \u201cMelvin of the Apes,\u201d\u009d every frame of which is eiditcally etched into my brain tissues from my first exposure back in the early 1950s.<\/p>\n<p>On an unrelated front, I\u2019ve been thinking about biotech, genomics, bioengineering, bioinformation\u2014whatever you want to call it.  I\u2019m thinking there\u2019s a rich vein of SF story material here that\u2019s ripe for more mining.  <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/images2\/wilaloe.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Of course Paul Di Filippo suggested this years ago in his <a target=\"blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.streettech.com\/bcp\/BCPtext\/Manifestos\/Ribofunk.html\">Ribofunk Manifesto<\/a>, and his story collection, <a target=\"blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Ribofunk-Paul-Difilippo\/dp\/0380730766\">Ribofunk<\/a>.  And we can\u2019t forget Greg Bear\u2019s classic <a target=\"blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Blood-Music-Greg-Bear\/dp\/0743444965\">Blood Music<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019d be curious to hear suggestions about existing SF along these lines and, above all, I\u2019d like some recommendations for readable popular science books on the subject.
