I always like to talk to Nick when I\u2019m starting a book.  He has such a unique way of looking at the world that I can usually glean some inspiration.  The photo here shows him with his ghost partner from the alternate world.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/images\/bcdamwater.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>When I took this picture were looking at the raging waters at the \u201cTurkey Foot\u201d\u009d where three streams meet: the San Lorenzo River, Bear Creek and Boulder Creek.  \u201cThe existence of liquids is so surprising and unexpected,\u201d\u009d remarked Nick.  \u201cNobody could have predicted liquids from first principles.  The gas and solid states, yes, but\u2014liquids that stay in a cup?  Amazing.\u201d\u009d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/images\/bccthulhu.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>We found a graffiti image of Cthulhu on a fence near the Turkey Foot.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/images\/bccar.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Amazingly funky old cars in Boulder Creek.  It\u2019s where the beaters go to retire.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/images\/glassaucer.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Cthulhu\u2019s car was parked nearby.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/images\/rudybynick.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Astonished, we repaired to Boulder Creek\u2019s only remaining coffee shop, Jenna Sue\u2019s cafe.  They have good pastry, and a small yarn mola artwork on the wall.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/images\/bcacidnick.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Nick was in his element, merging into quantum wavicles, incalculably strange and wise.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/images\/treecloudagain.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Finally the rains cleared and the King of Oaks called to me from on high.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rudyrucker.com\/blog\/images\/twotreesagain.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Two worlds, two trees, always present.  In Flimsy everything is a plant or animal, with no machines.
