"BEEP" is one of my favorite stories. Remember Blish's "Cities in Flight" books? They outlasted the universe, still young, and found themselves facing the Ginnungagap between universes with no way to survive or preserve anything, so they jumped into the Big Bang, yelling and shooting off guns, hoping to change the new universe so it wouldn't repeat this universe, and them, all over again. "But," I thought, "Didn't they do that last time, too? If it repeats and all?"

They claim crows fly into the afterlife and back again, and sometimes they lead a dead soul back to the world. There was a kung-fu movie about that once. Why wouldn't they fly between branes or dimensions?

It would be a good time for an homage to Clark, no?

A trans-dimensional crow acting as a portal to an infinite universe might just be the thing.
