Im with you. There is nothing beter than shooshing down the slopes where there isnt a footprint in sight. I grew up in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. And although California is beautiful and has the best weather in the country, I still miss the pristine serenity of the mountain back east. Here's to freezing your toes off!

Rudy, you said, “Too bad I can’t be fully single-pointed and mindful about soaking up these quite exceptionally beautiful surroundings..." If I may be so bold as to recommend a book which addresses that concern, and brilliantly I might add: Sakyong Mipham's "Turning the Mind into an Ally."
Your books have done so much to help me understand many things -- consider this a meager attempt to repay you in kind.

A really alien landscape to me - the mountains in Ga are really big hills with trees up to the tops. I've seen enough snow to ski once in my life. When it snows here, everyone panics and drives into the ditch.
It's good to do something completely different once in a while, or even twice. Also good not breaking your hip! At our age you gotta think twice before leaving the trail.
